The Jobs option in Company Preferences is used to define how the Jobs section is used. The Jobs facilities in Avanti can be used to track transactions and profitability for specific jobs that a business undertakes.

Use Jobs

The ability to track transactions against specific jobs is a really useful facility for many businesses however not all will find a use for it. As utilising the Jobs functionality includes prompts for Job Numbers in every entry form, if you have no use for this facility then these fields become superfluous. By unticking this box to tell the system not to use the Jobs facility then these prompts will not be displayed.

Terms Used For Jobs

The functionality provided by the Jobs facility is very flexible and whilst it may not be useful to you as a Job tracker as such, you may find other purposes that you can use it for. In fact if there is an extra element that you would like to track transactions and even profitability by then the Jobs facility could be the answer. Common alternatives include Projects, Departments, Cost Centres, Salespeople etc. Because of this the system enables you to define exactly what you want to call your use of these facilities and to enter your specific term for it into these boxes. For example if you're going to use it to track transactions by Department enter "Department" in to the Term Used for Jobs box and "Depts" into the Plural Term Used for Jobs box. You are limited to 10 characters for each setting.
